These are the instructions for setting up the GPII in order to use it. Detailed developer setup instructions are also available.

Windows - local installation

The GPII is known to work on Windows 7 and later.

  1. Download and install the latest node.js 0.10.x version (32 bit) - at the time of writing, this is 0.10.38 which is available at http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.38/
  2. Download and run the nightly build of the GPII installer (MSI file).
  3. Edit %ProgramFiles(x86)%\gpii\windows\start.cmd and either delete the second line or comment it out with rem followed by a space at the start.
  4. Download and install the USB and RFID listeners.
  5. You may need to install required user profiles in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\gpii\node_modules\universal\testData\preferences .

Use the "start GPII" icon on the desktop to launch the GPII and the RFID and USB listener icons as required. You will want to minimise the the GPII windows.

Note: The installer does not know what applications or AT (i.e. Cloud4all SP3 solutions) are installed on your system, but the file "installedSolutions.json" lists all applications that are currently supported by Cloud4all/GPII. As a temporary measure, you need to edit this file to remove all the solutions that are not installed on your system. This temporary workaround will become unnecessary once the "dynamic device reporter" becomes available; see JIRA ticket 413 for the status of this component.
