Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of CERTH was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organisation under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of Greece, with its head office located in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since 2000 it is a founding member of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) also supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT). CERTH/ITI has been working on the development and application of user centred design applications, innovative user interfaces and natural interaction environments for several years.

Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of CERTH is one of the largest European independent research institutes in the HCI domain and has been actively involved in several FP5, FP6, FP7 and AAL projects in the field of eInclusion. Relevant European R&D efforts in the eInclusion domain include the following projects: VERITAS (Technical coordinator, IP FP7, no.:247765), Cloud4all (IP FP7, no.:289016) ACCESSIBLE (Coordinator, Strep FP7, no.:224145), AEGIS (IP FP7, no.:224348), OASIS (IP FP7, no.:215754), APSIS4ALL (Strep FP7, no.:270977), ATIS4ALL (Strep FP7, no.:270988) ASK-IT (IP FP6 no.:511298). Over the last three years, the CERTH/ITI research team has authored over 100 publications in scientific journals and has given over 300 presentations to international conferences (for a complete list see: http://www.iti.gr/). In April 2010, CERTH/ITI recently won the “Judges Award” at the “Web Accessibility Challenge” (sponsored by Microsoft) at the 7th International Cross-Disciplinary Conference on Web Accessibility (W4A 2010).
